More observations on Orange Trailer: By Doris Meinhard Howard

More observations on Orange Trailer:  By Doris Meinhard Howard

Roger and Doris arranged to pull the trailer to Texas with Karl Meinhard's tools from his shop in Waverly after their home was sold.  The day we started out, the weather had turned to rain and the bridges on highway 80/ 35 south had turned icy.  The trailer started to skid sideways but the pickup pulled steadily and safely to the other side.  Soon the weather was warmer and it was just light rain.  We were on a route south on Highway 35 through Wichita, Kansas.  Pulling that trailer was consuming gas faster than normal and late in the night we ran out of gasoline.  Does anyone remember how we rigged up a hose and sucked on the end to siphon gasoline from the van into the pickup.    Carefully! Don't suck the gasoline into your mouth.
